Washington DC passes Medical Marijuana Law
Believe it or not the voters of Washington DC have passed a Medical Marijuana law. It still has to be signed off by Congress and President Obama, but it is a step forward. Hopefully Industrial Hemp will be legal next. Click the link to read the full story.
For the Hemp Curious
Hello and welcome.
If you are curious about or even if you are a devout follower of hemp and its many uses, I have a book for you to read. It is called the Emperor Wears No Clothes by Jack Herer. You can download your copy by clicking this link. I will tell you upfront that jack is a major supporter for legalizing marijuana. Aside from that, Mr. Herer does a pretty good job of presenting the facts as to why Industrialized Hemp should be legal.
I personally believe that we should legalize Industrial Hemp. It is my belief that it can help stabilize our shaky economy AND clean our atmosphere at the same time. But don't just take my word or Mr. Herer's word. Do some research and you will see that Industrialized Hemp has been a part of our world's society for over 10,000 years. There are a lot of resources available for you to review the facts. Some even say that if we were to legalize Industrial Hemp, we could become energy independent in less than 10 years! Wouldn't that be great?!!
Currently there at least a dozen states trying to get Industrialized Hemp reclassified so that American farmers can grow it. Hemp can grow in every area of the USA and in warm climates, it can be grown year round. Which means that every four months, there would be a new crop ready. In the February 1948 issue of Popular Mechanics, Hemp was touted as a Million Dollar Crop! In todays money, that would be equal to $40-$80 BILLION!!! I'll let that sink in, but just think of what $40-$80 billion dollars would do for our economy.
The USA is the number one importer of products made from hemp. I believe that instead of the money going to another country, it should stay here(!) where it would do the most good. We could have an amazingly positive economy if Industrial Hemp were legal here. Just think about it and do your research, you might just become an advocate yourself.
Now I know there are a lot of opponents to this idea, because they say that if you legalized Industrial Hemp, pot growers would be sticking their plants in there as well. Well, if you do some research, you will find that if you plant pot among Industrial hemp, the hemp vitrually neutraulizes the pot. And believe me, the pot people would hate that!
Since I brought up marijuana, let's discuss briefly some of the reasons I think that it needs to be legalized. First and foremost, the money our government would save in fighting the war on drugs would be astonishing. Then, if they were to tax and regulate it's sales as they do with tobacco and alcohol, we might not have a deficit!! I know there are millions of people who would and are in disagreement with me on this subject. However, if there were a PROPER education about the pros and cons of pot, like there is with tobacco and alcohol- there might not be as much to worry about.
Tell me your thoughts, let's have an open-minded discussion. If you are close-minded and wish only to belittle and abuse people for their opinions, please take it some place else.
